  • Contractor, CPDC, constructed PCC sidewalk and brick alleys on the south side of the 1300 block.

  • Subcontractor, F & F Landscaping prepared planting beds along the corridor.

  • Subcontractor, Omni Excavators, constructed granite curb and gutter on the north and south sides of the 1300 block.

  • Subcontractor, MC Dean, removed traffic signals L82 and L89 at the intersection of U Street NW and 11th Street NW; and removed cables.

Public Outreach/Coordination

  • Informed the public about roadway resurfacing that is set to take place beginning May 6th.

  • Spoke businesses about continuing work in their block and answered questions regarding activities.

  • Helped pedestrians enter and exit business on the corridor as the contractors worked to excavate and construct sidewalks.

  • Spoke with ANC1B commissioner and inquired about any concerns that have been brought up since the project restarted. None have been noted.

  • Worked with the contractor to be sure that construction equipment does not interfere with available parking space. Continued to monitor parking in the area to be sure that available spaces remained unobstructed.

  • Ian Owens from PEPCO was on site inquiring about CPDC crossing PEPCO transmission lines in the intersection of U Street NW and 13th Street NW. He will be back on site next week; weather permitting.

  • Volkert requested that DDOT streetlight and traffic signal representatives visit the site to review conflicts. After seeing that many conflicts existed, DDOT agreed that the streetlight and signal system designer should to come to the project site to review plans, and resolve streetlight and signal conflicts.
